Episode 5: Moving forward
Narrator: with the season now well underway the expectations of the team have dropped slightly from the season’s beginning. Despite this, whilst Rudi Basa did well in Portugal, two other riders have been having some success. With his 9th place in Ajaccio-Bastia, Geo Anamia has continued to show that age will not stop him picking up points, and at the other end of the age spectrum Sadiq Chakraborty finished in the points for the second time of the year.
Geo Anamia (rider): It was looking like my career had stagnated before I moved to EE. It had been almost two seasons since I’d last scored points and EE were the only team interested in signing me.
Henri (manager): To be honest, I didn’t understand it, here was a fantastic rider, with a few more top years left in him and yet no one else was interested. It’s a phenomenon that’s happened a few times for us, in the signing of Arpad Faltus and Gherman Cristache and these riders have always given us some great success.
Geo Anamia (rider): From the moment I joined EE we had one shared goal and that was to win Ainet-Bruggen, a very prestigious race. It all culminated in us winning the race in season 50. Sadly I’m getting quite old now so I don’t get the chances I got before so to be given the captaincy for Ajaccio and to finish 9th is something I’m really pleased about. It’s true we haven’t had the start to the season we wanted but we’ve started to get some momentum going now and it’s exciting to see Sadiq break out on the world stage.
Sadiq Chakraborty (rider): Bangladesh doesn’t have much by way of a cycling heritage, my family came to England when I was young and whilst I learnt to ride in England it’s Bangladesh where my heart lies. That’s why it makes me so happy to currently be riding in the Bangladesh champion’s jersey. Last season I got my first proper chances in races, when my top form was used. It didn’t generate all the results I wanted a podium gave me something fantastic to work from. This year I’ve been lucky enough to be given, and take, 2 captaincy chances and I’ve scored at both.
Bertus de Keijsere (coach): Sadiq’s not the greatest DH rider in the world but his determination, work rate and tenacity means he really turns up when required. He’s going to be getting a few more chances in the next few weeks as a few major DH races will be taking place.
Henri (manager): Now that the Volta is definitely behind us we start to head towards the next major goal for the season: the Valpa a Valparaiso. We’ve won the GC here twice and the SC once so this year it’s about the YC with Daniel Sammut Castelletti, he’s a great young rider and we’re really excited to bring him to this race.

Sadiq is now the all time Bangladesh top scorer (a title he will be fighting over with against Arun Abedin (Die Tour Phantome))

Good luck with the YC. Would be amazing to complete the set and Castelletti looks like a strong rider for it!
